Me with my lovely family.

πŸ‘‹ Hi, I’m Zena!

I’m here to help business owners make more money doing what they love β€” with less hustle and lower ad spend

A Wee Bit About Me

Although I wrote tons of stories as a kid, I grew up wanting to be a marine biologist β€” because octopuses and sharks are cool. Alas, that didn't pan out because large bodies of water tend to make me nervous.

But I was one of those kids who never stopped asking "Why?" and that annoying determined curiosity set me on the path of studying philosophy. Apparently, I don't know when to stop and kept asking "Why?" until I earned a PhD in philosophy. (Not necessarily something I'd recommend. But it is how I met my husband, so πŸŽ‰)

I may have left philosophy behind, but the curiosity didn’t leave me. With curiosity and empathy, I love learning about my clients’ businesses. I help turn your expertise, personality, and customer insight into content and copy that:

  • Attracts web traffic (incorporating SEO and AI-search principles)

  • Builds trust with the right customers

  • Makes your personality part of your competitive advantage

  • Answers questions people are already asking on Google and AI

  • Nurtures customer relationships and keeps you top-of-mind

  • Turns attention into inquiries, referrals, and loyal customers and raving fans

Whether it’s an email newsletter, customer story, website copy, blog, social post, or thought leadership piece, the goal is the same:

Help the right people find you, like you, and trust you β€” so when they're ready to buy, your business is the first to come to mind.

We've been working with Zena for the last several issues of our magazine and she's done a fantastic job. The quality of our magazine has improved immensely. I'd very much recommend her.

How I got here

I finished my PhD while I was a stay-at-home mum of two little kids. (That’s them, all grown up, in the photo above πŸ₯Ή) The natural path was teaching, but I realized I didn’t want to do that.

But I wanted to work (I like money) β€” and also to be at home with my kids as much as possible. So I started a freelance business, working from home, doing something I loved: writing.

As my business grew, I learned a ton about marketing β€” for myself and my clients. I realized that I loved marketing too. The problem-solving and creativity it involves really floats my boat.

As a business owner, I also discovered toxic hustle culture β€” and refused to have anything to do with it🚫

Now, I help my clients make more money doing what they love, while helping them avoid burnout from wearing all the business hats at once.
